Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia to Compose Again in Bollywood

“I’ve been in the industry for the past four decades and have always chosen only those projects that I’m completely convinced about. This film has a very interesting storyline,” he says.

“The film has been shot in a contemporary rural set up in Madhya Pradesh,” elaborates Smita Kudva, the director of the film, whose association with Chaurasia goes back several decades, when she was a child.

“I have travelled with him extensively and played the tanpura for his concerts. I’m also planning a film on him and have already finished the 30 minute promo,” she adds.

Balancing his multiple roles as teacher, composer and performer, he’s already in the middle of his next project. “I’m working on my next album which will have shlokas in Sanskrit and it should be out early next year,” he says.

The master flautist nostalgically recalls the hundreds of unbreakable relationships that blossomed in his Gurukul as well as unforgettable memories of working with people like Yash Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan — a couple of his favourite people.”

Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia is a powerful figure in Bollywood in composing songs. So, it is good news both for him and for his lovers and fans as well.
