2006: The Year for Bollywood?

In terms of earning money and producing hit movies, 2006 is perhaps the best year in Bollywood’s history. I cannot think of any other year in the recent past in which so many Bollywood movies became successful in the box office. It was a year of remake movies like Don.

Times of India wrote:

With the war against piracy hotting up and new multiplexes coming up, more people have visited cinema halls in 2006.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says: "People are going back to cinema halls to watch movies because they are getting value for money. The movie business has gone up by 40 per cent in the past five years. Money is pouring in from all directions. Also a lot of new subjects were touched upon for the first time in 2006."

It is cool to note that more people are now going to the cinema halls. The healthy growth in Indian economy means that millions of more people can now afford to go to cinema halls than the past. So, the number of movie goers will increase and Bollywood will get immensely benefited from it.
