Govinda, a talented actor of bollywood, has been a notable figure in bollywood for his acting skill especially for his comedy skill. He could make a distinct place in bollywood as a comedian hero competing with the contemporary co-actors. Many of his comedy movies are still remembered among his fans. His hardworking mentality and consistent performance made him a top class actor in bollywood.

Govinda started his acting career through the movie named Ilzaam directed by Shibu Mitra in 1986. He played the role of Ajay Kumar in the movie. After that he acted many of the bollywood movies but hardly any movie got box office hit. Then it was until 1988, his movie Hatya directed by his brother Kirti Kumar got a significant success in the box office for the first time in is career. Though the movie was a milestone in his acting career, there are two movies named Shola Aur Shabham (1992) and Aankhen (1993), which are seen as the turning point for his career and through this two movies bollywood also got one of the notable comedy heroes in its history. It is noteworthy that both the movies were directed by famous director David Dhawan. Govinda coupled with David Dhawan produced many successful movies in bollywood which best-represent his acting career. After getting a huge success in this back to back two movies, Govinda started acting in comedy based roles and the movies continued making boom in the box office in the 1990s. Some of his notable movies in the last decade were ‘Coolie No. 1’ (1994), ‘Saajan Chale Sasural (1996)’, ‘Hero No. 1 (1997)’, ‘Deewana Mastana’ (1997), ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ (1998) and ‘Haseena Maan Jaayegi’ (1999) and most important thing is that all of these popular movies were directed by David Dhawan.
Having got a huge success in comedy based roles he also tried his luck for villainous role in the movie ‘Shikari’ directed by N. Chandra. He played the role of Om Srivastav in the movie. However, though his performance in the movie was promising, the movie could not turn any much hit in the box office.
Govinda, though, is best-knoen for his comedy related roles; his powerful contribution in dancing in bollywood is inevitable. This skilled dancer first introduced modern type of dancing in bollywood after the end of the ear of Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra. Govinda’s distinct style and passionate dancing started a new ear of dancing in bollywood which is now being carried by Hrithik Roshan, the present star of bollywood.

Govinda seems to be regular in bollywood as some of is movies are now in production and are set to be released in the next year. David Dhawan’s next film ‘Partner’ involves him. So, it is not a matter for an actor like Govinda to get movie even though his recent movies have not got any success in the box office. Rather directors can rely on his ability and acting skill which proves his greatness as an actor. His glorious career can best represent the quality of his acting. In addition, playing the role of hero at the age of 43 really deserves some credit. Though it is also true that, for an actor like Govinda, it is prestige which is the key concern and it does a matter with the performance of his movies at the box office. You have to wait a few days to know whether his new movie Bhagam Bhag could make any boom in the industry. I think he has proven his potential already and now it is the time to show something special to make critics remind his greatness.
