Review of Bollywood Movie Striker

Title: Striker

Director: Chandan Arora

Cast: Siddharth, Aditya Pancholi, Anupam Kher, Padmapriya

On February 5, 2010 Chandan Arora’s “Striker” was released in theaters. The movie stars Siddharth, after four years since last appearance in “Rang De Basanti”. Striker is a medium budget movie. The story of the movie is set in the nineties Mumbai underworld and also related to post-Ayodhya communal riots of 1992. Surya (Siddharth) is rebellious young boy but his ill health is his main problem. He can not attend school properly. It was his elder brother who introduces him to carrom and from a very young age he develops a liking towards carrom and becomes a very good carrom player. However, Siddarth dreams to go to Dubai and earn money. He works for three years and gathers enough money to go Dubai. But the employment agency who was supposed to send him to Dubai was a fake one and it took away all his money. This brought him to Jaleel (Aditya Pancholi), one of the most notorious gangsters of that area who also runs a carrom betting racquet. Eventually, Surya beats Jaleel and comes out as a winner. The movie starts with a very promising note. The story was good in the beginning but it failed to hook the audience for a long time. After a promising start the story goes horribly starts to follow the regular Hindi movie cliché type of story telling and this became the major problem with Striker. You will enjoy the beginning of the movie but as it goes on you will start to loss interest. It is a movie that has been stretched out for nothing. Chandan Arora is a very experienced director. He did movies like Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh (2005) and Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon (2003). He also edited Company, the famous movie of Ram Gopal Varma. Chandan Arora’s story telling style is very swift. However, the Striker story is nothing very extra ordinary. So, it failed to captivate the audience. However, some of the scenes in the movie were very well shoot that the carrom rounds between Surya and Jaleel were very intense then the movie also captured the nineties in a very detailed and also captured the underworld and people. Overall Striker could have been a decent movie if Chandan Arora paid more attention to the script.

Director of Striker film Chandan Arora is a fan of football. If he is the supporter of Chelsea or Arsenal then he should not miss tomorrow’s important match between Chelsea and Arsenal.

If you ask me who is the highest paid actress in Bollywood. Then, my answer is that “I don’t know”. Whatever the record it is and whoever makes this record, it is perhaps going to be broken by heartthrob actress Aishwarya Rai. Recently, Aishwarya Rai has been offered a whopping of Rs. 10 crores for a film. This enormous money was offered by producer Bobby Pushkarna. Bobby Pushkarna offered Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai such amount of money for his new film “Page 3”. Do you know who Bobby Pushkarna is? He is the son of veteran film producer Baldev Pushkarna. Aamir Khan’s father Tahir Hussain passed away by cardiac arrest

Hindi movie lovers know Tahir Hussain as the father of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and I think that he felt proud to say that he is the father of Aamir Khan. However, the question is that how many of you would know him as a filmmaker. Now, I will give you sad news that this legendary film maker is no more alive in this world. He passed away by following a cardiac attack on Tuesday and entered in an eternal world. He was early 70s when he breathed his last. It is really a great shock for all Hindi movie lovers. That is why, Bollywood pays tribute to Tahir Hussain. Aamir Khan is now in US with his wife to promote his film Peepli Live at the Sundance Festival. He is expected to return in India today on Wednesday. After the return of Aamir Khan, funeral will take place.

Tahir Hussain’s ancestors are Pashtuns of Afghanistan but he was born in India. Tahir Hussain started his career in the film industry as an assistant director in Tumsa Nahin Dekha and Dil De Ke Dekho in 1957. He worked along with his brother. He has directed many hit films where Aamir Khan acted in a lead role. One of the famous hit movies is 'Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke'. Other hit films which was directed by him are 'Madhosh', Anamika', 'Zakhmee' and 'Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke'.

He is physically dead but he has become eternal because of his work. We will remember him with great respect and honor.
