Sanjay Dutt’s Next Sentencing Date Set to Be on February 6

Sanjay Dutt’s scheduled sentencing will again resume next month as the sentencing has not been completed. This benevolent actor of Bollywood was convicted of buying arms from a gangster group who were accused of operating a serial bombing in 1993 in Mumbai 257 lives. Sanjay is a busy actor of Bollywood and is very popular for playing gangster type roles on screens. However, he has showed his acting talent and potential in his acting career. It is noteworthy that he spent a year in jail in 1995 and since then he is on bail. I am quoting some lines from a Reuters report:

Our arguments on Sanjay Dutt's punishment remained incomplete today and they will resume on February 6," the actor's lawyer, Karan Singh, told Reuters on Thursday.

Lawyers for Dutt -- who found film fame playing gangsters and anti-heroes -- urged that he be set free for his good behaviour during his bail, citing a 1958 law which allows certain convicts to be given probation.

The anti-terrorism court found 100 people guilty in connection with the blasts, most of them Muslims, in one of the world's longest-running trials. It is expected to hand down sentences later in January.

Another 23 people were acquitted.

Police say the attacks were plotted by India's most wanted man, Dawood Ibrahim, to avenge the razing of a mosque by Hindu zealots.

Sanjay Dutt is a great actor undoubtedly and still has a lot to show to his fans on the screen. However, law is same to all and it judges all the people of a country on the same level. So, if there is any guilty proved against him then he might be treated by the existing law but it should be assured that before proclaiming the verdict all the related matter has been gone through thoroughly.
