Bollywood is the undisputed king and queen of Indian entertainment world. Bollywood stars are like demi gods and TV stars can hardly match their popularity. So, it is the dream of every TV actor and actress in India to enter Bollywood movies. Some of the popular Bollywood stars had their background in the TV industry. Now, we can see a role of reversal.
If you look at the media headlines now then you can easily see that two things are making the headlines in the entertainment industry. Shilpa Shetty’s fight to be the best in Big Brother UK is now the talk of the whole world. On the other hand, Kaun Banega Crorepati-3 is beginning with Shahrukh Khan and it has created a media storm too. So, it seems that the time for role of reversal has finally come for the entertainment industry in India.
If this is not enough insult to Bollywood movies, there is more to come. Within a few weeks, we will have ICC World Cup 2007. This time, the matches will be held in the West Indies. For one month, all the people in India will be super glued to their TV sets. Because of being in a different time zone, Indian fans will have to be awake whole night to enjoy the matches and then very few of them will have any mood to go to the cinema theaters to enjoy Bollywood movies. Even all the TV channels will just talk about cricket and cricket. So, Bollywood movies will have to wait until the end of April to regain their supremacy in the Indian entertainment world. For the time being, let us focus on the idiot box (television).
