One of the most popular awards of Bollywood, Star-Screen Awards, has been published recently featuring the winner of different categories based on their performance in 2006. This is the 13th Annual Star-Screen Awards. All the winners have showed their outstanding performance in their respective fields.

First, come to the Best film category where Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Lage Raho Munna Bhai has been named as the best film of 2006. Lage Raho Munna Bhai is based on the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi. In the movie it is seen that Munna Bhai (played by Sanjay Dutt), the leading character, gives solutions of different problems based on the ideologies of Mahamta Gandhi. When people see that his advises works well, people start coming to Munna Bhai in order to get solution of their various problems. For his excellent acting, Sanjay Dutt got the Star-Screen Critics Awards for Best Actor. In the movie, Arshad Warsi played the role of Munna Bhai’s friend. For playing this role he has been named as the Best Actor In A Supporting Role Male.

Then come to the Best Actor category where Hrithik Roshan was the ultimate choice as he starred in two leading roles of two Blockbuster movies- Krrish and Dhoom 2. However, it is Krrish, where he played the leading role of Krrish, for which he got the Best Actor award. Krrish is the sequel of its first hit Koi Mil Gya. The Krrish is the first superhuman type movie in the history of Bollywood. It was reported that Hrithik had to take some dangerous stunts while shooting for Krrish. Best Actress has been the glamorous actress Kareena Kapoor for her tremendous performance in the movie Omkara. Though the movie could not impact much at the box office, however, it did well in abroad especially in UK and Australia. Best Actor In A Supporting Role Female has been declared Kirron Kher for her excellent performance in Rang De Basanti.

Among the other categories, Best Actor In A Negative Role (Male/Female) was given to Saif Ali Khan for his performance in Omkara. Shreyas Talpade was given the Best Actor In A Comic Role (Male/Female) award for her outstanding performance in the movie Dor.

Best Background Music was of Rang De Basanti and the award goes for famous music composer AR Rahman. Best Playback Female has been declared Sunidhi Chauhan for giving her voice in the song Beedi Jalayale in Omkara. Best Lyrics was also given for the same song which goes for Gulzar. Best Story award was given to Rajkumar Hirani and

Abhijit Joshi for Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Best Screenplay award has been honored to Rensil D’Silva, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for Rang De Basanti. Most Promising Newcomer Male is Siddharth for Rang De Basanti and Most Promising Female is Kangana Ranaut for her performance in the movie Gangster. Critics Awards for Best Actress Ayesha Takia for her excellent performance in Dor.

Lifetime Achievement Award has been honored to two legendary figures of Bollywood.

Actually, the names given as the winners of different categories have been judged thoroughly and then they have been declared as the winner. The names remains out of the list were also talented. However, I have been astonished seeing no awards for the blockbuster Dhoom 2. This Yash Chopra production created a huge hit at the last part of the year. Its Choreography specially for action and music were praiseworthy. The use of some unique concepts of technology made the movie more interesting and attractive.
