Aamir Khan to Carry Olympics Torch Praying for the People of Tibet

Yes, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has decided to run with Olympics Torch in India, despite the rumor that he might pull him out of the run as a protest against the harsh treatment of Chinese government on Tibetan government. However, recently the actor has made it confirmed in his personal blog that he would take part in the Olympics Torch run with prayer in his heart for the people of Tibet. Meanwhile, Baichung Bhutia, captain of India’s national football team, has decided not to participate in the run as his way of standing by the people of Tibet.

BBC reported:

"I would like to state that I have the highest regard and respect for the struggle that the people of Tibet are going through. I completely empathise with them," he said.

"I request those of you who have asked me to stay away...to understand that when I do run with the torch...it is not in support of China.

"In fact it will be with a prayer in my heart for the people of Tibet, and indeed for all people across the world who are victims of human rights violations."

People of Tibet have been protesting against China for a long time to establish their rights on their own territory. Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, has been living in India since he fled from Tibet in 1959. There are 150,000 Tibetan refugees currently living in India.

Olympics Games 2008 will be held in Beijing, China this year. Tibetan people have called for boycott this year’s Olympics Games as a protest against China. Many people from around the world have already stood by the Tibetan supporting their struggle against China. Besides Aamir Khan, there are some other celebrities in India who are going to take part in the run with Olympics Torch.
