Moreover, almost all know that Bachchan family believe in astrology. They are always used to go to astrologers whenever they have anything special occasion. The expected marriage date of the two popular Bollywood stars was also supported by the astrologer. Times of India reported:

On this day, brides wear the colours gold and white rather than the traditional choice of red or maroon, to invoke the blessings of the goddess. The goddess has a particular fondness for gold. Which is why everything worn on this day is accentuated with zari, zardosi and ornaments of pure gold. Aishwarya, incidentally, is wearing gold.

Akshaya Tritiya is also celebrated as the day when Laxmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, is invited into the home. "The day is considered auspicious for buying long term assets like gold, silver, diamonds, other precious stones, and real estate. Legend has it that any venture initiated on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya will continue to grow and bring prosperity," says citybased jeweller, Neeraj Bhan. Srujana Reddy, a devotee of Goddess Laxmi, shares, “No matter how small the amount is, I make it a point to buy some gold on the auspicious day.”

Astrologer J Shastri explains the significance, “Akshaya Tritiya is the day when all malefic influences are negated. Anyone can get married on this day. There is no need to seek a muhurat. Especially amongst North Indians, the day is of utmost significance. April 20 is also a day when the blessings of Jupiter, even though it is in retrograde, and Venus are in abundance with both the Sun and the Moon exalt.
