Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan avoid box office clash

Hrithik Roshan may be a superstar but Salman Khan is now the most favorite among distributors. Thanks to hit movies like Wanted and Dabangg, Salman Khan is most favorite star of Bollywood.

On May 27, 2011, movies of Salman Khan’s Ready and Hrithik Roshan’s Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara were to release in theatres which worried distributors. To avoid the clash, distributors approached the two producers to change the release date of the movie. A senior distributor said,

“After Dabangg, Salman is a huge star at the box-office while Hrithik’s last two films, Kites and Guzaarish flopped miserably. Also, Zoya Akhtar’s first film Lucky By Chance was a flop. Distributors wanted a solo release for Ready because they feel the film is safer than ZMND, which looks like a niche film,”

Initially, the two producers were not willing to change the release date but later Excel Movies postponed the release date of Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara (ZMND) to June 23, 2011 and Salman Khan’s movie has been postponed to June 3, 2011 to avoid clash with the final of the Indian Premiere League (IPL) on May 29, 2011.

However, Ritesh Sidhhwani, producer of the movie, said that Salman Khan is not the problelm because our movie also has big stars like Hrithik Roshan.
