On February 18, 2011, 7 Khoon Maaf has released in theatres. If you have watched the trailer, you know that it is not a regular commercial movie but a dark movie. Based on Ruskin Bond's short story, Susanna's Seven Husbands, 7 Khoon Maaf tells the story of a beautiful Anglo-Indian woman, Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes (Priyanka Chopra) and her seven husbands who died mysteriously.
In Indian movies, women are portrayed as dutiful wives or supporting lovers but 7 Khoon Maaf shows the dark side of a woman. Anna marries seven times in search of true love but every time her marriage turned failure for each of the hands had one major fault.
The movie is made of many short stories that are woven together and made a long story.
Priyanka Chopra is the “Hero” of the movie and she plays her part very convincingly. The seven husbands had been played by Annu Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Aleksandr Dyachenko, Naseeruddin Shah, John Abraham, and Neil Nitin Mukesh. Annu Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah did very well. However, Naseeruddin Shah’s son, Vivan Shah, who also debuted in the movie, received lots of praise for his performance.
