Aishwarya Rai Could Easily Mix with Her Role in the Movie PROVOKED

Aishwarya Rai, one of the leading actresses of Bollywood, is now in England to join in the first show of her English movie Provoked. In the movie, Ash nicknamed this beautiful actress plays the role of an abused housewife. The movie is based on a true story of a Punjabi house wife Kiranjit Ahluwalia who being abused by her husband Deepak Ahuwalia (played by Naveen Andrews) for many years, one night she set fire to her husband and killed him.

It seems that the role is not an easy one. However, Aishwarya Rai said that she could easily cope up with the character. Here lies her acting talent. Aishwarya Rai is going to marry Abhishek Bachchan, the son of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan very soon. IBN Live reported:

The film is inspired by the true story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, a victim of domestic violence who killed her own husband and was charged for murder.

For Ash the actress, stepping into the character of an emotionally and physically battered wife was a humbling experience.

“I think I believed so much in the script that it didn't take time to slip in to the character and to really feel the core and communicate what needed to be conveyed in every cinematic moment,” she said.

I think the movie is going to be more successful than the past English movies of Aishwarya Rai. The character, Aishwarya plays in the movie is a special one in her career. So, the movie is likely to be successful in England as well as in India.

Aishwarya Rai Took Part in a Photocall in London Ahead of the Premiere of the Movie Provoked

Aishwarya Rai acted movie Provoked is going to be premiered on April 6, 2007 in London. The movie depicts a true story of unfortunate Punjabi women, Kiranjt Ahuwalia, who being abused by her husband for ten years in England, later set his husband fire and killed him. This heart-breaking movie is directed by Jag Mundhra.

On the occasion of the premiere of the movie, Aishwarya Rai is now in London and yesterday, she took part in a photo session ahead of the grand premiere of her movie Provoked. Hollywood.com reported:

Aishwarya Rai, Bollywood’s finest property showed it to the lenses at a photocall for her next movie “Provoked” earlier today in London. She has some of the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen. Not too many people know about this woman in the United States, but to give you some perspective, in Asia, she’s as big as Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep put together. The movie opens in the UK on April 6th.

It is nice to see that being a Bollywood star, Aiswarya Rai is going to make boom in the English movie too. As far as the synopsis of the movie is concerned, I am optimistic about the success of the movie.

Aishwarya Rai’s Wedding and Media Attention of Provoked

Provoked is a type of the movie that may not get success commercial success. After all, it is not a traditional type of movie. It has a serious message and serious story but no light dance and music and presenting the actresses in short dresses. The fine matter is that the upcoming marriage of Aishwarya Rai is helping in the promotion of Provoked. Because of World Cup Cricket, this is a dull time for Bollywood movies. So, there is not any good movie in the cinema halls. Bollywood fans are engaged with Aishwarya Rai’s wedding.

IBN Live reported:

For US-based Indian filmmaker Jagmohan Mundhra, it means more publicity for his latest film Provoked, starring Ash as the protagonist.

The harrowing tale of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, a battered Punjabi housewife and mother of two who is beaten and raped by her alcoholic husband, Provoked will release just two weeks before the Abhishek-Ash marriage.

“The Aishwarya-Abhishek marriage on April 19 has definitely helped generate curiosity for my film. In that sense, yes, it will bring the audiences to the theatres to watch Aishwarya,” UNI quoted Mundhra as saying.

Very good for Provoked. This kind of movie needs to be made more and Bollywood actresses should perform in them.

Kiranjit Ahuwalia: Provoked to Make The Movie Provoked?

The harsh reality is well-imitated in the upcoming English movie Provoked, based on a battered Punjabi housewife, Kiranjit Ahuwalia, who after putting up with the abuses of her husband for 10 years, betrayed in the end and killed her rude husband, Deepak Ahuwalia while sleeping at night. It is expected that the movie is going to make a boom in England as well as in India, as Aishwarya Rai, the leading actress of Bollywood, played the protagonist role of Kiranjit in the movie. In The News reported:

Once imprisoned, Kiranjit's case comes to the attention of a group called the Southall Black Sisters, who appeal against her minimum twelve-year sentence. As luck would have it, she ends up sharing a cell with Veronica Scott, sister-in-law to none other than Lord Edward Foster. He takes her case before the high court in 1992, eventually bringing about not only Kiranjit's freedom, but also redefining what it is to be provoked in the eyes of the law.

Bride and Prejudice star Aishwarya Rai who plays Ahluwalia is making serious waves in Hollywood. However, on this showing it is hard to see why. Her performance here is an uneasy alliance of shocked, pained and please-pity-me-looks, laced with an irritating sanctimony.

Lost star Andrews would have done well to have remained so for this one note performance. To signify the onset of Deepak's nastiness, Andrews stiffens the face and narrows the eyes. Evil abounds - woeful.

This true story of Kiranjit later on got a huge media attention while her cell mate Veronica Scott as well as the Southall Black Sisters, South Asia based social workers led a movement against the sentence of life imprisonment given by the court to Kiranjit. Then it was needed to change the British law to make her free from Jail. So, you can understand that how significant the story was that time. Now, with the movie Provoked, the whole world is experiencing the frightening incident of Kiranjit Ahuwalia.

Aishwarya Rai in Provoked 2007

Aishwarya Rai is getting married soon. Before getting married, Provoked is going to be the last film released. So, this film has an extra significance. Actually, there is a lot of media attention about Aishwarya Rai’s marriage at this time. In Provoked, Aishwarya Rai has an exceptional role.

Aishwarya Rai’s performance Provoked has caused a lot of sensation among the fans. Even Indian Prime Minister’s wife Gursharan Kaur is impressed with her performance in the movie.

Mehdi Hassan wrote:

Aishwarya Rai’s latest movie, Provoked is based on the true story of an Indian wife, Kiranjit Ahluwalia, a victim of violence and sexual abuse, who played crucial role in changing the judicial system in Britain. The movie has been widely appreciated by film critics. Among the list of appreciators, India’s Prime minister, Manmohan Singh’s wife, Gursharan Kaur, has been added.

Aishwarya Rai’s acting in the movie also impressed all the fans in premiere in London. Apunkechoice wrote:

"I cried seeing the film as I re-lived every moment of it. I am impressed with Aishwarya's acting of the role of Kiranjit and I am satisfied with the film," said 51-year-old Kiranjit, while sharing the platform with Aishwarya Rai, the director of the film Jagmohan Mundhra and actress Nandita Das , at the Court House Kempenski in London on Tuesday night.

Kiranjit was presented with a cheque for 5,000 pounds and promise of a 1 per cent of the box office returns for her and the South Hall Black Sisters who had campaigned her cause.

I am happy that Aishwarya Rai did this movie. She is getting old and she is getting married- none of them is a good thing for any Bollywood actress.

Official Website of Provoked (2007) the Movie

Provoked is an English word and that is why in the first page of Google search results you may not find much information about Provoked the Movie. Provoked is going to be in the cinema halls from 6 April. The address of the official website is:

http://www.provokedthemovie.com/index.html

Aishwarya Rai is the star attraction of the movie. I liked the official website of Provoked. It is a sad movie and in the design of the official website, we can see black color strongly visible.

About the official website of Provoked, SouthAsiaBiz has written:

The homepage would give you the feeling that the movie deals with a very serious issue; dark and disappointing. The black and white picture of the prison cell and that desperate look of a woman behind bars would put the viewers in proper mood. Black and white colors have been used all over the website. On the lower right portion of the homepage, there is a small window that would allow the viewers to watch the movie trailer.

Kiranjit Ahluwalia to Be Present in the Premiere of the Movie PROVOKED

Provoked, an English movie based on the real story of an unfortunate housewife, is going to be premiered in the famous theater in Leicester Square. The movie is based on a ture story of a Punjabi housewife Kiranjit Ahluwalia (played by Aishwarya Rai), who resided in England with her two children as well as his husband, Deepak Ahluwalia. Kiranjit was abused by her husband many times since they got married. Having tolerated continuous torture for years, Kiranjit set fire to her sleeping husband and murdered him. Being accused of a murder, British law sentenced her to lifetime imprisonment. In jail, she met Veronica Scott, her fellow cellmate. With the help of Veronica and a South Asian social worker group, The Southall Black Sisters, brought the case in to the lime light and gathered much media attraction in England. Thereafter, having gone through a lot of critical stages, Kiranjit at last became free and came into her normal life with her two children.

Now, on the occasion of the premiere show of the movie, it has been reported that Kiranjit herself will be present at the theater. DNA India reported:

Kiranjit Ahluwalia, a middle-aged woman from Punjab, will join the stars at the world-famous cinema in Leicester Square to see her life story immortalised on celluloid.

The diminutive Kiranjit for the last 11 years has been working the night shift at a Royal Mail sorting office near Slough. For the last 15 years, law students have been reading about her in their texts.

Kiranjit came to England in 1979 from a traditional family in Punjab, having married Deepak Ahluwalia. For ten years, she put up with her husband’s beatings and raping. One night, she threw petrol on him as he slept and lit a match. He died of burns six days later, but not before implicating Kiranjit for murder.

I think that the movie is going to make a huge media attraction in England as well as in India. The most important thing is that the movie is going to be on public ahead of the Aishwarya-Abhishek marriage ceremony. So, it seems that the movie will be rocking up in the next few months.
