Have you heard about the 2 minute rule? Do you practice it in your daily life?
You have heard a lot about the 2-minute rule, and it is practiced by many people around the world. The idea is very simple. If you can do something within two minutes, then try to do it. You can get rid of procrastination as well as laziness. However, there are many people skeptical about it as two-minute work cannot make any difference in our life. In this post I am going to talk about some benefits of two-minute rule.
Ideal for some people
There are many people who struggle with focusing for more than a few minutes. I am one person who struggled to focus on something for more than 10 minutes. What I do is that I forget to do a lot of things that are very easy, but yet I do not do them. For example, I can perhaps write a blog post within two minutes for this blog. It is really possible for me, but I do not do it. This is ideal for people like me who struggle with focusing in everything.
Many things can be done
I just gave an example above that I can surely write a blog post within two minutes. Yes, I can easily write a blog post of 100 words within two minutes if I really want. Or I can type 50 words in two minutes, then again after a short while, I can type for two minutes. If I can work like this for five or six times (10-12 minutes), then I can easily write a good quality blog post.
Household Chores
Many of us can be extremely lazy when it comes to doing household work. For example, my table is always in a mess. I am not organized, even though I don't keep my clothes very organized. So I know that I am not a rare person, and there are millions of people - especially millions of men - who have the same habit or bad habit like me.
By using the two-minute rule, we can arrange our clothes, we can clean our table, we can even clean our room, we can wash some dishes. We can do many things within the house. If we can spend two minutes on ten tasks, then ten tasks will be done every day.
Physical Exercise
For us, it can be a great solution. For example, today I have started doing moderate exercise like walking. I do not walk at all despite the fact that my health requires at least 20-30 minutes of walking every day.
So I decided, "Okay, I am going to work just for 2 minutes. That is possible, that is very easy." And this way I have already worked 16 minutes, and I hope to work a total of 30 minutes today by just walking 2 minutes at a time.
Avoiding burnout
Even those people who are very hardworking can benefit from the 2-minute rule. For example, a hard-working person takes tasks to an extreme level and easily gets physical or mental burnout. They simply cannot do the smallest task.
I have experienced it many times in my life when I like something, I just spend all my time on it, and then very soon I get physical, mental, and emotional burnout. At that stage, even just spending 10 minutes on that work becomes almost impossible or very challenging or difficult for me.
You can develop micro habits
It is also very useful for developing micro-habits. There are habits that you can do, for example, many people feel lazy just to brush their teeth before going to bed. This is a very simple task; it does not take more than two minutes but it can prevent many diseases.
Many people suffer from teeth problems only for neglecting this simple habit. So, there are many micro-habits that you can develop by just trying and focusing on one task for two minutes.
Earning more Money
I know most of you will become skeptical after hearing from me that you can even earn more money by mastering the two-minute rule. It is really possible if you take it seriously. It does not mean that you just work two minutes a day and you will start earning money.
No, it does not work like that way. But if you can focus on your work for two minutes, and can repeat it many times throughout the day, then you will notice that you were doing many things get done compared to the past. That will surely bring some extra money for you.
Reading More Books
I know it sounds weird, and you must be laughing at my idea. You may think that it is impossible that you can read more books by following the 2-minute rule. However, I have from my own experience noticed that when I don't, when I feel bored for reading a book then I just read only two or three pages at a time, and this way within a day I can read 30-50 pages.
Sometimes even I have read 100 pages this way. It is possible. The same can be applied to watching YouTube videos. If a video is full of entertainment and funny, we like to watch it. If it is a learning video, then many of us get bored and we struggle with it. So, if you can just watch two or three minutes at a time, then you will notice that within an hour you can finish a 20-minute-long video easily.
