Danny Boyle, the Slumdog Millionaire director, returned to Mumbai to over see the trust fund he and producer Christian Colson created for the child actors of Slumdog Millionaire, Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail. In an interview with Times of India, Boyle said that he is very happy to return to Mumbai once again. He missed the city very much. Danny Boyle said that he has plans to make another movie in Mumbai but the work of the project will start in 2010. Times of India reports:
Another film apart, what brings you to Mumbai, Danny?
What we’ve come here for is to hand over ... things ... to the Trust (created for the Slumdog Millionaire kids). I know the newspapers want to write stuff like , ‘Danny Rides To Their Rescue’. The truth about what we’re doing is far less glamorous and far more professional.
Slumdog Millionaire won eight Oscars last year. The child actors of the movie Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Mohammed became celebrities overnight. However, the children underwent immense mental pressure as they were constantly under the watch of the media. When the dwellings of Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail were destroyed, the news appeared on all the major newspapers around the world. The Congress Party of Maharashtra then offered them two apartments in Western Mumbai.
