Abhishek-Aishwarya Engagement Put a Positive Impression on Guru

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have recently declared their engagement and they are soon to be married. The declaration has come out just after few days of release of their movie Guru. It is also reported that the declaration of engagement might have created a good impression on the ticket selling of the movie Guru. However, in some theaters the engagement could not have any significant impressions among the audiences.

However, with news breaking out on Sunday evening that Abhishek and Ash are officially engaged, it is likely that the box-office may even touch 80 per cent. The news of their engagement comes at a crucial time for the couple after delivering a series of flops together.

Theatre owners feel that the well-timed publicity and the mere coincidence of Ash and Abhishek’s engagement would have a positive effect on Guru’s ticket sales. However, some theatres said that the news did not affect the ticket sales. Ganesh Shreedharan, from Eros Theatre in Churchagte said, “The movie is doing well. The recent news about the wedding has certainly affected the ticket sales. Since the news broke out, we have had a 30 per cent increase in ticket sales.”
However, Pravin Rane of Maratha Mandir in Mumbai Central said that the film itself was a crowd puller and the engagement has nothing to do with its success. “The film I doing well because of its script, story and music. So there is no impact on the ticket sales due to the announcement. We do have houseful shows anyway,” said Rane.
“Initially the response was not exciting but the announcement has definitely helped in generating interest and curiosity among the audience. But I think the film is worth seeing, the script is good and the music by A. R. Rahman is excellent,” said Sanjay Angre of PVR Cinemas in Mulund.
Sameer Nagte of 24 Karat in Jogeshwari said that the film hasn’t been impressive at all. “Even after the news broke about the wedding, the film hasn’t attracted much of an audience. There are no houseful shows. I don’t think that the news had increased the sales,” Sameer said.

The declaration of their engagement has given an extra pace for the movie Guru. It seems that the movie is doing better in abroad than in India. However, the movie deserves to be the first super hit movie of 2007. Now, it is yet to see what happens in the fate of this movie in the coming weeks.
