IIFA Award 2010 in Sri Lanka

International Indian Film Academy or IIFA is one of the most prestigious academy awards for Bollywood stars. It is also known as Bollywood Oscars. This year the 11th annual awards of IIFA will be hosted by Colombo. This three-day event is scheduled to start from 3 to 5 June. This event will feature premieres, celebrity parties, fashion shows and a Twenty20 cricket match. This event will end with an annual award ceremony in Colombo's biggest sports stadium. The organizers of this event have said that 500 guests will attend in this program and it will be watched by 600 million TV viewers in 110 nations. However, there will be a 20-20 cricket match between Hindi film industry stars and Asian cricketers.

It is expected that Amitabh Bachchan’s family would attend in this event. Amitabh Bachchan is the brand ambassador of IIFA. He hoped that the decision to bring the event to Colombo would encourage collaboration. Since its first stage in 2000, the awards are held outside India every year in terms of increasing the international profile of Bollywood films. It is expected that this annual award ceremony will increase the publicity of Indian film in Sri Lanka.
