Madhur Bhandarkar gets into the mind of the prisoner with Jail

Madhur Bhandarkar is a talented film maker but his films are not just mainstream paisa-vasool commerical movies, Madhur has made a name for himself as a serious movie maker. His movies try to show the reality of the society. In his latest outing as a director, he takes you inside the prison and the minds of the prisoners. Starring Neil Nitin Mukesh (Parag Dixit), Mugdha Godse (Maansi) and Manoj Bajpai (Nawaab), Jail tells the story how an innocent man ends up in a prison on false charges and then befriends with the inmates and gathers the courage to fight the system. From the promo and Madhur’s reputation as a serious film maker, it can be easily understood that Jail is a serious movie and that is why this movie did not get much viewer in the theatres.

However, that does not mean the movie is lacks merit. Jail is a very well executed movie from all side. Madhur Bhandarkar, Manoj Tyagi, Anuradha Tiwari came up with a very strong script and Raghuvir Shekawat’s dialogue breathed life into this movie.

After a long time, Manoj Bajpayee came on the big screen and the actor played his part superbly. Aarya Babbar played his part very well. Neil Nitin Mukesh delivered one of the best performances of his career. He really went under the skin of his character and portrayed his helplessness and suffering very well. Mugdha Godse had a non-glamorous look but she carried out her part well. If you are a big fan of hard hitting realistic movies, then this is the movie for you.
