Richard Gere Free from Arrest Warrant and Calling for Boycott the Bejing Olympics Games

Bollywood actor Richard Gere has called for boycott the Beijing Olympics Games this year. Known as an ardent follower of Dalai Lama, the actor is one of those celebrities who support the Tibetan protests for their rights against Chinese government. Gere was accused of breaching the obscenity law in India last year after kissing Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty in an AIDS awareness campaign. Later, an Indian court issued arrest warrant against Gere before he left the country. However, there is report out that the arrest warrant has been stayed by Indian High Court. So, actor is now free to travel to India and is capable of meeting Dalai Lama, the religious leader of Tibet, who is currently residing in the Northern part of India.

Meanwhile, the Pretty Woman star joined other Hollywood activists, such as Steven Spielberg and Mia Farrow, in protesting the Beijing Olympics.

Gere is calling for a boycott of China if the country fails to deal with Tibetan protests and unrest in a proper manner.

Richard Gere is practicing Buddhist. The actor involved in the controversy without knowing well about the Indian culture well. The actor intended to make people understand that even kissing does not spread AIDS by kissing Shilpa Shetty.

Dalai Lala is leading the Tibetan protesters who are envy with Chinese government. They are calling for boycott the Beijing Olympics. Richard Gere has also extended his hand for the Tibetan protesters calling for the rights of the Tibetan people.
