Court Sends Summon to Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty Asking Them to Present in the Court Over the Kissing Incident

Richard Gere and his kissing to Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty is now the hot news in India. Earlier this month, Richard Gere gave a consensual kiss to Shilpa Shetty at an event organized for HIV/AIDS awareness among the people. The incident created a flurry of protests in India and Jaipur court of India has sent summon to both the star asking for their presence in the court over the matter. Law Fuel reported:

The actress had been issued summons by the court which asked her to present herself on May 5. However, her spokesmen have denied that any such summons was issued.

Also, and arrest warrant has been issued against actor Richard Gere by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Jaipur. Gere has so far refused to comment on the issue, Times NowTV reports.

The incident, in New Delhi earlier this month when Richard Gere kissed Shilpa Shetty on the cheeks in good humour at a charity event promoting AIDS awareness, created a huge furore. The two have been charged of obscenity in public under 294 IPC.

The magistrate, Dinesh Gupta, reacting to a private complaint filed by advocate Poonam Chand Bhandari, watched a CD of the AIDS awareness function as shown by a TV channel, to pronounce that the act was "sexually erotic" and "indecent".

Kissing publicly is not allowed in Indian culture which is a very common thing in Hollywood. So, Mr. Gere might have not any idea about the sensitive matter. Now, it is yet to see to what extent the two actors would cost for the kissing incident.
