Ticket Selling Got a New Pace Ahead of the World Cup Cricket 2007

ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 is now very near to its launching ceremony. The tournament will be started from March 11. It has earlier been reported that the ticket sales of the tournament is not satisfactory due to the complicated visa processing. However, the local fans were also lag behind in buying world cup tickets and the ticket sales were limited to some particular matches. Nevertheless, recently it has been seen that the ticket centers are now very busy selling the tickets and the local fans are now rushing in to the ticket centers to secure a ticket for their desired match.

Caribbean Press Releases reported:

“Reports from ticket centres show heavy foot traffic – a strong indication that regional fans have indeed been waiting for this phase to buy match tickets,” Price said. “This is what we anticipated and CWC is encouraged to see Caribbean people supporting the Cricket World Cup which will be held in our backyards. We want them to come out and enjoy themselves and we are pleased that it looks like they will be out in their numbers for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Price added that fans were so eager to get their hands on tickets that they queued outside ticket centres in Jamaica, Guyana and Saint Lucia long before the doors opened.

Marketing & Communications Manager of the Trinidad & Tobago Local Organising Committee, Penny Commissiong-Chow, reported a massive response. “It has been overwhelming. All three Ticket Centres, including the one in Tobago, have done brisk trade throughout the day, which is excellent,” she stated. “Late in the day, we also saw a lot of requests coming in for Bangladesh matches. Overall, 80 per cent of our sales today were for CWC matches being held in Trinidad & Tobago.”

This is good news for the authority that fans are coming forward to buy tickets and the authorities now can work with full pace in order to attract more fans to the Caribbean region. I hope the concerned authority will think about increasing promotional activities in the host countries and participating countries.
