Rituparno and Amitabh together for the first time

Rituparno Ghosh, the critically acclaimed Bengali film director is now going to direct a film starred by Amitabh Bachchan. Earlier, he proposed another script where Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar would play the role of father and son but the idea was postponed.

Accroding to Apun Ka Choice report:

Rituparno Ghosh and Bachchan have reportedly discussed several ideas over the period of last few years. Ghosh almost finalized Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar to play father and son in a movie, but the project was later scrapped.

In the meantime, Ghosh directed Abhishek Bachchan (in ‘Antarmahal’) and Jaya Bachchan (in yet unreleased Sunglass ).

And now, the Bengali filmmaker has got Big B’s consent for a movie that will be made in English. As learnt, the film will have Amitabh playing an old, passionate but fading actor.

Born and brought up in Kolkata, Rituparno came from a movie family. His father was a documentary film maker. As a director, Rituparno first directed ad films. In 1992, he got his first movie Hirer Angti (The Ring of Diamond). Aishwarya Rai, the would be daughter-in-law of Amitabh Bachchan and one of the most popular actresses of India, worked in his movie Raincoat which was appraised by Indian movie critics.
