JADE GOODY: The new problem of Indian government?!!

In a desperate attempt to save her image and career Jade Goody is now planning to come to India after receiving the invitation from India tourism. However, the government is in a dilemma whether they should give her visa. They are afraid of people making problem regarding her visit. Indian Tourism Minister Ambika Soni said that she invited her to participate in some of the wellness programmes in India to get cured. She also added that Goody would not be treated as any special guest but like a normal tourist. Daily India reports:

The Indian government Thursday clarified that the controversial British TV star Jade Goody, accused of hurling racist abuses at Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, would not be an official guest if she visits the country, but could come and 'cleanse' herself.

Goody, who has reportedly approached the Indian high commission in Britain for a visa after the country's tourism office invited her, can visit India 'just like any other tourist', said Tourism Minister Ambika Soni.

'It (the advertisement appeared in London newspapers inviting Goody to India) was an open invitation. It was asking her to come and see the wellness facilities we have here and that she could come and clear herself of the racist feelings she has,' Soni told reporters here.

Reports suggested that Goody's acceptance of the invitation had put the government in a dilemma over playing host to her after New Delhi officially expressed its displeasure at her racist remarks during the Channel 4 reality TV show 'Celebrity Big Brother'.

But Soni clarified that there was no official invitation for the British TV star.

One of Shilpa’s friends Divya Puri commented about Goody’s tour:

"Why come over in such a blaze of publicity? It would clearly be a PR stunt," Divya told The Mirror. "She should come over quietly in six months and not make a fuss, then we'll know she is genuine."

Another report published in Times of India, says that government’s invitation to Goody was unnecessary as she has already visited the country. In April 2006, Goody came to the state of Gujarat to visit a glass factory. Pragati Glass at that time received an order from a UK firm, Jean Christian to produce perfume bottles. The company had produced 500,000 Shh perfume bottles of 100 ml capacity an additional 200,000 in the last six months. Goody was the brand ambassador of the perfume name “Shh.” She also had an agreement with Jean Christan that he would receive 40% of the profit. After Goody’s racist comment the firm ordered Pragati to stop the production. After hearing about the event the employees of Pragati were hurt.

After all these, THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION IS “SHOULD JADE GOODY VISIT INDIA AND APPOLOGISE TO THE PEOPLE FOR HER BEHAVIOR?” what do you think?
