Canada to Help Caribbean Nations to Increase Border Security ahead of World Cup Cricket 2007

Canada is going to support six Caribbean nations to increase the border security ahead of world cup cricket 2007. The tournament is going to happen in nine different venues and as an international tournament it needs to have a strong security during the tournaments. Jamaica Gleaner reported:

Beginning this month, 120 customs officers in Antigua, Grenada, Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be trained in using the new technology.

"The provision of this technology is part of our continuing efforts towards the development of a safe, secure and prosperous Caribbean, particularly in the context of Cricket World Cup," said Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica, Denis Kingsley.

It is a good initiative that the host nations are taking the security issue seriously. Canada, a participant country in the coming world cup, has done a praiseworthy work helping the host countries. I think the other host nations should come across to such initiatives to make the tournament risk less. I hope a successful World Cup tournament in the heavenly Caribbean region.
